Massage is perhaps one of the oldest healing traditions. Many ancient peoples (including the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Chinese, and Indians) were convinced of the therapeutic properties of massage and used it to treat a variety of ailments.
Massage therapy (including myotherapy) is the practice of kneading or manipulating a person’s muscles and other soft tissue to improve their well-being or health. It is a form of manual therapy that includes holding, moving, and applying pressure to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia.
The term ‘massage therapy’ is used to describe a wide variety of techniques that vary in how touch, pressure, and intensity of the treatment are applied.
I Got Your Back offers massages tailored to YOUR needs, including services for chronic pain, sports injuries, pre & post-operative massage & cupping therapy. We can provide everything from lymphatic drainage & relaxation massage to deep tissue massage & trigger point therapy.
What is the right fit for you? Here is a brief breakdown of the most requested styles:
Lymphatic Drainage
A gentle whole-body treatment that relaxes the nervous system and aids the body's immune system.
Swedish Massage
Another gentle massage with the main focus of helping you relax. During this massage, your therapist might try using long strokes, kneading, and deeper circular movements.
Sports Massage
Very similar to Swedish massage, great for athletes recovering from or looking to prevent injury.
Deep Tissue Massage
Involves more pressure with slower strokes meant to get deeper into the muscle layers and tissue. This might be the type of massage you ask for when you have an injury or are feeling very tight or stiff.
Trigger Point Therapy
Focuses on specific target areas with tightness and tension and works to alleviate discomfort by applying pressure to these areas.
